Compositions

I am currently working on a composition for a quartet (piano, violin, viola and cello). It will be called "On a cold winter night".

My composition "Christmas Serenade" came to my mind spontaneously last Christmas while improvising on the piano. In less than an hour it was already completely written.

My first invention arose from the 3rd movement of my night watchman sonatina. I liked the melody so much that I thought I could take it a little further. With this invention I have already won several prizes at composition competitions, most recently the 1st prize at a competition in Poland.

One of my most extensive works to date, the "Night Watchman Sonatina" for piano and violin, was completed in May 2021. The sonatina was a commissioned work for the farewell to the Altlandsberg night watchman, who went into his well-deserved retirement in June 2021 after more than 15 years in this office.

I wrote this composition in three sentences. The first sentence "March" is intended to express the city tours regularly carried out by the night watchman, during which one or the other staircase has to be taken. In the second movement, "Farewell", the "actual commissioned work", the farewell to the night watchman, was implemented. This sentence is very solemn and melancholy, but with a positive ending, which should express the optimistic view of the future and the anticipation of new tasks. The third movement of my work is the "new beginning". Whether you imagine the new challenges of the former night watchman or the new night watchman on his tours, that is up to you.

With this composition I have already won several prizes at international competitions.

I finished my composition "Spring" for piano, violin and voice at the end of August 2020. The melancholy of my composition is due to the fact that last spring with all the canceled concerts and competitions did not leave me with good memories. This composition could be called "Spring 2020" or "Corona Spring".

Of course, a song text belongs to a composition with singing. This doesn't come from me, but from my mom, who adapted it to the melancholy of my music. You can hear the recording of the world premiere at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin in September 2021.

Spring

Spring is heavy with sadness

even if my heart opens up
at the sight of the blooming roses on the way.
The longing drives me oh so much
out into the wide world in dreams.

Spring wears a dark dress
casts long cold shadows
must bury my dream in the meadow green.
The nightingale complains of her suffering.
Like me, she can't take it.

And that is how it all started: My first composition "Kuh Wilma", which I wrote in August 2019 at the age of five with the help of my composition teacher. Originally "Kuh Wilma" was a funny little poem that I made up myself. The idea for this  came from a movie I'd seen and my enthusiasm for church towers and bells. In composition class I was supposed to set this poem to music as a song. Then there were more and more notes and in the end a piece emerged from which, with a little imagination, you can vividly imagine the "cow Wilma". ;-)

Cow Wilma

Today is a beautiful day,

says cow Wilma.

The carousel turns

all around,

all around,

all around.

Wilma the cow lives in a church tower.

Every day at noon

boots them up to the bells.

She always dances there

and sings very loud:

Today is a beautiful day.
